If even a single thread becomes cracked or chipped it can cause fuel to leak out.
Chainsaw gas cap vent leaking.
Inspect the top of the gas cap and look for cracks but also inspect the threads on the underside of the cap.
Move the chainsaw to a well ventilated area and check the fuel lines for cracks.
The vent hole gets rid of heated gasses so it may be broken.
Any help would be appreciated.
If the vent hole is broken ripped open or clogged the gas may leak in other areas.
Take spark plug out and pull rope and fuel shoots out of exhaust and spark plug hole.
Cleaned it out good.
Flip the cap upside down and inspect the vent hole which is usually in the middle of the cap on poulan s chainsaw.
Thought it might be tank vent.
For the carburetor to work these pressures must be equal.
If fuel leaks from the carburetor rebuild or replace the carburetor to prevent gas from leaking.
If the tank can t vent this added pressure fuel will stop flowing from the tank to the carburetor due to an imbalance in the atmospheric pressure and the tank pressure.
Replace the fuel lines if they re leaking.
I have a stihl chainsaw 028 that just fills up with fuel.
Replace the cap and see if it is still leaking.
When the gas inside your stihl chain saw fuel tank heats up it creates pressure inside the tank.
Still does it just sitting there.
Fuel lines are good.
